applications open for the 2012 national script workshops

We're calling for script submissions for the first of our National Script Workshops this year, giving playwrights a two-week development for a new play

Workshop #1: 23 April to 4 May 2012

Closing Date: 12 March 2012

Before you apply, download the updated Application Guidelines for eligibility and submission requirements.

We have three closing dates in 2012 for the National Script Workshop and are changing the way we process script submissions for our major programmes, head to the website to find out more.

 


 
 

Submitting Scripts 2012

Playwrights submitting new work to PlayWriting Australia have three closing dates in 2012 for the National Script Workshops this year:

- 12 March (open now)

- 25 June and

- 27 August

Head to the website for the workshop dates and info on how to apply.

And don't forget you can also submit a play to Postscript at anytime.

 
 
 

State Exchange

Congratulations to the first round of State Exchange recipients: Playwrights Rod Ainsworth (QLD), Victoria Carless and Angela Betzien (VIC) for Tales of the Underground 

Playwright Elise Hearst (VIC) and dramaturg Amelia Events (NSW) to develop The Sea Project  in Launceston.

The next State Exchange round closes on 11 June 2012

 
 
 

MAX AFFORD playwright's award

Quick! Applications for the Max Afford Award close on Friday 3rd February.

The award is open to playwrights between the ages of 18 and 40, and the winner receives $10K plus two weeks of creative development with PWA.

PERTH: Exciting world premiere of The White Divers of Broome this week as part of the Perth Festival.

Presented by Black Swan State Theatre company, this new play by Hilary Bell was inspired by the book of the same name by John Bailey and celebrates boom time Broome and its exotic clash of cultures.

The show runs from 28 Jan until 16 February at the State Theatre Centre of WA

SYDNEY: As last year's National Play Festival in Parramatta we gave audiences a sneak peak of Roslyn Oades' I'm Your Man . This fantastic show is now on at Belvoir until 5 February - don't miss it!

And if you want to revisit a classic Aussie play, head to Griffin Theatre for The Boys by Gordon Graham, directed by Sam Strong.

SCRIPTS: Each year we're excited to partner with the Australian Script Centre to include National Play Festival featured scripts on the australianplays.org website.

Check out the list of plays that have been featured at the National Play Festival in previous years, and keep an eye on the site later in the year for info about this year's plays.

THE VOICES PROJECT featuring the hottest new writing from atyp's Fresh Ink emerging playwrights program kicks off this month, with The One Sure Thing stage show.
